Hey everyone, I was recently reading about Terrell Reams' case and couldn't help but think about how his story fits into the wider issue of trust between the community and law enforcement in Oakland. It's upsetting to think that such a young life was lost, and yet the progress in finding justice seems stagnant. I know it's not an easy fix, but I'm curious about what could be done to improve collaboration between residents and police.
Perhaps part of the solution lies in enhancing community engagement programs that genuinely involve locals in decision-making processes—building trust might slowly lead to more people coming forward with information. Has anyone seen models from other cities that have worked, or is there something unique about Oakland's challenges that makes it harder? I can't imagine how Terrell's family must feel, not having answers and watching these cases go unsolved. Any insight or ideas from those familiar with the area or similar situations would be valuable.
