I've been thinking about how incredibly difficult it must be for Cierra's friends to process her loss. I read somewhere that she was a significant part of her school community, being involved in art and sports. I imagine her friends at Eastwood High are still coming to terms with losing someone so vibrant and full of life. These young people should be focusing on their dreams and futures, not mourning a classmate. It's commendable that the school is keeping Cierra's memory alive by awarding her an honorary diploma, giving her loved ones some solace and a way to honor her aspirations. Supporting the teens who knew her is vital—have there been any initiatives or gatherings to help them cope, or are there any ongoing mental health resources being offered? It would be helpful to know more about how the community is rallying around everyone affected.
