I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of Dariene Smith's passing on her two young children. It just breaks my heart to imagine what they must be going through, growing up without their mother. The community mourning her loss says a lot about the kind of person Dariene was—clearly loved and cherished. While justice seems to have somewhat been served with Anthony Humphrey Jr.'s guilty plea, I can't help but wonder if there's more we can do to prevent these senseless tragedies. Holding vigils and community dialogues to honor Dariene's life and address these issues could be a step towards healing and change. It’s so important for us to come together and support each other through this difficult time. Let’s keep Dariene’s spirit alive by working towards a safer environment for all.
