It’s tragic to think about how Shealy Lynwood's case, among so many others, was impacted by the strain on Detroit's police force in 2012. I read somewhere that during that time, many seasoned detectives were reassigned, leaving less experienced officers to tackle complex cases. I can’t help but wonder: did this shift in personnel contribute to cases like Shealy’s going unsolved? I don't want to sound like I'm blaming the officers—they were stretched so thin with the limited resources they had. It's just heartbreaking to see a family left without answers, and a community left in fear. My thoughts are with anyone who knew Shealy and is still searching for closure.
