Thinking about Anthony Bakeley's murder, I can’t help but reflect on the larger picture of Detroit back in 2013. My heart goes out to Anthony's family and friends who are left without answers. That year was notorious for its crime rate, and Anthony's death wasn’t given the attention it truly deserved because of all the other cases threatening to drown it out. It’s frustrating how many of these tragedies got tangled up in a web of socio-economic struggles, overworked law enforcement, and a community that had every reason to stay silent. Unfortunately, a lot of folks didn’t feel safe coming forward with information that could have potentially helped resolve cases like Anthony's. It’s a distressing cycle—no closure for families, and offenders possibly walking free. I’ve read about various initiatives popping up since then trying to combat the crime wave, pushing for more community engagement and supporting law enforcement. It's a tough uphill battle, with results that have often been inconsistent. But even in such trying times, I hope that someday Anthony's loved ones will get the answers and justice they've been waiting for.
