I’ve been following the case of Jonny Vernor’s tragic death and something that really strikes me is the role of business responsibility in situations like this. It's apparent that Al-Gaham overstepped by resorting to lethal force, but it brings up questions about how employees are trained to handle such confrontations. Do businesses provide enough guidance or support to employees on conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques? It feels like this incident might have unfolded differently if there had been protocols in place to handle non-violent issues more peacefully. Also, thinking of Jonny’s family. Losing a loved one in such a senseless manner must be utterly devastating. It’s crucial that we push for changes that might prevent similar tragedies, not just in Detroit but everywhere. The community deserves to feel safe, and that includes holding businesses to standards that protect the lives of both employees and customers. Does anyone know if there are any community initiatives or forums discussing these issues that people can get involved with?
