Hey everyone,
I just finished reading about the 1906 incident involving Officer Charles Robert Blackstock, and I'm really struck by how wild and chaotic things got when Will Harris was on the run. I mean, I can't even imagine the sheer terror that must've swept through Asheville during those frantic days! It's heartbreaking to think of the families whose lives were shattered by such a senseless act of violence.
The thing that blows my mind is how quickly the community banded together to track him down. Organizing a posse with both local citizens and the National Guard must've been no small feat, especially back in those days. The bravery shown by those people is just astounding. I feel like there’s a whole other layer to this story about how communities rally in times of crisis.
Anyone else feel kind of in awe thinking about how different crime scenes would’ve been back then? No modern technology, just sheer will and collaboration. It's a sobering reminder of how communities can both suffer and unite in the face of unimaginable tragedy. My thoughts are definitely with the victims and their families as well as the brave souls who risked everything to bring Harris to justice.
Would love to hear what others think about all of this.
Stay safe out there,
