I recently came across the tragic incident on May 29, 1972, where James G. Henry, along with Melvin Harrison and Jacquelyn Wharton, lost their lives in that horrific shooting in Raleigh. What’s truly perplexing to me is how little we actually know about the suspects or any arrests made in connection with the case. For such a significant event that shook the community, the lack of public information is baffling.
It makes me wonder about the details that might be hiding beneath the surface—why was there no follow-up in the media? Was there a reason the investigation didn’t yield more visible results? And more importantly, how can cases like these receive renewed attention even after so much time has passed?
Thinking about James' daughter, Terri Sue, who lost her father that day, reminds us of the personal toll this violent act took on innocent lives. It's a sad chapter in Raleigh's history that still needs closure, both for the community and the victims’ families. Does anyone else have insights or theories on why this case didn’t progress further legally? Would love to hear your thoughts.
