I was reading more about Trooper Harmon, and the involvement of the two truck drivers who witnessed the tragic event got me thinking. Their quick decision to try and intervene shows such courage. Imagine the shock and horror they must have felt witnessing something so awful, yet they acted without immediate regard for their own safety to try and stop the suspect. It's a small comfort to know there were people willing to put themselves on the line, but heartbreaking that they couldn't prevent this tragedy. My heart goes out to these witnesses, as well as to Trooper Harmon's family and community. These kinds of selfless acts, even in the face of danger, remind us of the goodness in people amidst such a devastating situation.
