Just came across the case of Lee Scott Carter, and the aspect that's haunting me is the impact this has had on the community of Dilworth. I can't imagine how the neighbors must have felt waking up to the news that such a horrific event took place right in their midst. It's like you never expect something so intense and devastating to happen close to home, in a relatively peaceful area. The saddest part is how one person’s internal struggle and inability to let go turned into an unthinkable tragedy. Lee’s life was cut short, and his girlfriend had to witness this unimaginable event. My heart goes out to her and anyone else who knew Lee. How does a community even begin to heal from something like this? It makes me wonder about the support systems that are (or should be) in place for both witnesses of such tragedies and the residents who feel the ripple effects. If you're from Dilworth or nearby, how did it change things for you?
