I came across Cassandra Martin's case while reading about domestic violence incidents in North Carolina around 2006. It's been really heavy on my heart, especially thinking about the families left dealing with so many unanswered questions. One thing that's really been sticking with me is the role of community awareness. In my town, there are some local initiatives like support groups and awareness campaigns, but I wonder if that kind of outreach was available in Graham around the time Cassandra was killed. Did anyone know her? Was there any community support she might have reached out to before things turned tragic? It's daunting to think how many lives might be saved if there were better safety nets in place. If anyone has experiences or knows of organizations that have made a real difference in DV cases, it might help others in similar situations. It's so important to keep her story alive and push for the changes that these victims desperately need.
