Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot about Rebecca Robertson’s case and one thing that keeps coming back to me is how eerily she predicted what was going to happen. It just breaks my heart thinking about how she expressed her fear that night to her sister, Lateefah. Imagine being in that situation, knowing your life is in danger, and feeling so powerless.
I've read a bit about how it's not uncommon for victims to minimize or brush off threats because they’re scared or they just believe things will get better. I really wish there had been a way for her to feel safe enough to follow through with those warrants or seek out further protection. It’s so crucial that we spread awareness about the resources available and emphasize the importance of taking threats seriously, no matter how difficult or frightening it might be to act on them.
Sending love and support to her family and those kids who have to grow up with the memory of that night. This case truly underscores how much work we still have to do to ensure women like Rebecca have a real chance to escape these situations.
What do you guys think could help people in similar situations feel supported enough to reach out for help? Would love to hear your thoughts.
