I’ve been thinking a lot about how the lockdown at Lincoln Community Health Center and Pearson Middle School must have affected everyone there on January 14, 2014. As someone who once worked in a school, I can only imagine the fear and confusion that students, teachers, and staff must have felt with an active situation unfolding nearby. It's awful to think that Antonio Dixon’s friends and family had to go through this tragic loss while the community faced such upheaval. It shows how these acts of violence have ripple effects, touching so many lives beyond those directly involved. My heart goes out to everyone in Durham; I hope the healing has begun, although I know it can't be easy. How have these events changed the atmosphere in Durham, particularly around areas like the Health Center and the school? I’d love to hear from locals about how the community is doing now, almost a decade later.
