Has anyone else been following the developments of the Cold Case Unit in Detroit? I came across Damon Gibson's case from 2013—it’s just one of many heartbreaking stories from that time—but what caught my attention is how the unit is revisiting old files with new forensic techniques. It's truly admirable that they're trying to bring justice to families who have been waiting for answers for far too long. Gibson's case is particularly poignant given the high homicide rate that year, and it makes you wonder about the kind of pressures his family faced then and still face now. I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like to know someone's working diligently to close these cold cases but also having to cope with the uncertainty that keeps hope alive yet painful. If anyone has more information about how these forensic techniques are making a difference, I’d love to learn more. It’s stories like these that put a humane perspective on the raw numbers we hear in the news. Thoughts?
