Does anyone else find it so unsettling that Gerri Newkirk was caught in this deadly crossfire when she was supposed to be safe in her own home? It's devastating to think about how quickly innocent lives can be impacted by acts of retaliation. The aftermath for her children must be incredibly overwhelming. They were just in the other room while all this unfolded. It’s something most of us can’t even begin to comprehend. How do communities and families even start to heal from something like this? I can't help but feel for her family and especially her kids, who now have to navigate life without their mother. The responsibility now rests on the community and authorities to ensure that such needless violence is curbed and that justice serves as both a closure and a deterrent.
