I’ve been following Anthony White Jr.'s case and can’t shake the impact his loss has had on the entire community. I read he was really committed to his studies, choosing academics over potentially playing college football, which is impressive for someone his age. It's clear he had his priorities set straight and was working hard towards a bright future. I can't imagine how his family and friends must feel, especially knowing his life was taken at a place where he should have felt safe. It’s a reminder of how vulnerable students can be on campus. The university's response and the stress it must have put on everyone involved—students locked in their dorms terrified and the authorities under pressure—must have been incredibly traumatic. The importance of addressing campus safety can't be understated, not just at Winston-Salem, but everywhere. It's just so devastating that it sometimes takes the loss of a promising young life for those conversations to happen. My thoughts are with Anthony's family and friends. I hope the proceedings against Jarrett Moore bring some sense of justice to those mourning him.
