I can't stop thinking about the role that East Piedmont Avenue has played in Chris Turner's tragic story. It's haunting to imagine that such a bright and lively young man could face such a grim fate in a place where others might have simply walked past that night. For those familiar with this street, does it generally have a reputation for being unsafe, or was this particular incident an outlier? I feel so deeply for Chris’s family, especially when considering that his future was so full of potential. The idea that something as beautiful as his basketball aspirations could be overshadowed by such violence is difficult to comprehend. My thoughts are with his mother, Shonda, and the rest of his family as they navigate this extremely difficult time. Is there anything more we can do as a community to help prevent senseless acts like this from happening again?
