Every time I read about Cornelius Montrell Clark’s case, I can’t help but think about the families of the people who get caught up in crimes like these. It amazes me how advances in technology can bring about new evidence years after a tragedy, giving families hope for justice. I was reading about how Demetrius Deshawn Hairston was finally charged with Cornelius’s murder. It's bittersweet. On one hand, it’s a relief for the family to know that law enforcement has remained committed to solving the case. But on the other, I can't imagine the pain Cornelius’s loved ones must feel, having to relive everything through the news of these arrests.
With Mandre Daquan Graves also facing charges, it seems like things are finally moving towards some resolution. It's a reminder of the perseverance required by both investigators and families in these situations. And let’s not forget Timmy Anthony Williamson II in this web of events; he might be connected to the break-in that happened just before everything went downhill. I just hope that the justice system does right by Cornelius’s memory and that his family finds some peace knowing those responsible are being held accountable. It’s a weight off the shoulders of an entire community who has been waiting for answers.
