Raymond Griffin, 74, of Grantsboro, North Carolina, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene on March 7, 2018. The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office opened an active death investigation and treated the case as a homicide.

Investigators determined the shooting arose from a domestic dispute. Deputies arrested Raymond’s wife, 69-year-old Linda Cuthrell Griffin, who was charged with his murder and held in the Pamlico County Detention Center without bond. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted at the scene, collecting evidence, canvassing the neighborhood, and interviewing witnesses.
