Hey everyone, I recently stumbled upon the case of Robert Owens, a 73-year-old who was killed in Detroit back in 2014. It's so disheartening to think about how many cases like this remain unsolved, especially when the families are left without any closure. I was reading up on how Detroit has thousands of unsolved murders since 1980, and it's just overwhelming. It's moments like these when you realize how crucial community involvement can be. I've heard that the Detroit Police Department has set up a cold case webpage to encourage people to come forward with any tips or information. It’s a small step, but hopefully, it can make a difference in cases like Robert's. I really wish there was more that could be done to support the cold case unit. Does anyone know if similar initiatives have been successful in other cities or if there's a way to help amplify this effort? Sending my thoughts to the Owens family and hoping that one day they’ll find the answers they need. Stay safe. ?

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new here but have been following cold cases for a while. The story of Robert Owens really struck me, particularly because he was a 73-year-old man. I can't help but wonder about the kind of life he led up until his tragic death. It’s incredibly saddening to think of someone spending so many years in this world only for their story to end this way, with so many lingering questions. I read somewhere that his neighborhood was quite close-knit. Has anyone else heard about what kind of role he played in his community? Sometimes, people in that age group have deep ties and are often a big part of their communities, maybe even substitute grandparents for kids nearby. It's just troubling to think that, despite possibly having these connections, his case remains unsolved for so long. It's cases like these where even a seemingly small detail could make a huge difference. I hope they find someone willing to come forward with information that might help. It feels important to remember that Robert was someone who mattered, not just a stat in the rising unsolved case numbers. If anyone has more insight or thoughts on community cases like this, I'd love to discuss it more. Stay safe, everyone.

Hi everyone, I've been following the Robert Owens case and it's so difficult to comprehend how, even after so many years, his family still waits for answers. One aspect that caught my attention is the lack of media coverage surrounding his murder. It seems that cases like his, where little information is available, often fall through the cracks, disappearing from public attention. I'm wondering if this lack of media spotlight contributes to the challenges law enforcement faces in gathering tips and maintaining the public's interest. In cases where public interest is high, there's often a steady stream of new information or leads, but when the spotlight dims, it must be incredibly hard for the families left behind. It's important that we continue to discuss and share these cases, to keep the memory of victims like Robert alive, and hopefully keep the pressure on for progress. My thoughts are with his family, and I truly hope they find the closure they need. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the role of media in long-cold cases. Stay safe, Robin
