I was reading about the disappearance of Austin and Perry, and I can't stop thinking about the role technology might have played. It's so eerie that Austin's iPhone was found on the boat months later. Has anyone heard what kind of condition it was in? I know there was talk about recovering data from it. I can only imagine how crucial those last bits of information could be in understanding what happened that day.
On a related note, if you're out on the water, even if you're experienced like these boys, wouldn't it make sense to have some sort of waterproof or floatable case for phones? I know it might sound trivial given everything else, but maybe accessibility to tech in an emergency could make a difference. Thoughts?
Does anyone else find it perplexing that despite all the advanced technology we have, Austin's iPhone couldn't provide any clues about what happened after their last message? I remember when the boat was found months later, and everyone hoped the phone might offer some insight. It's just baffling that none of the data recovered seemed to help. Given both boys' boating experience, I'm curious if anyone thinks there might've been a malfunction beyond just the storm that day. Also, how common is it for significant items like life jackets to be completely missing from a boat? It raises so many questions about those final hours at sea.
