I've been following the case of Jakim Smith, and one thing that's been on my mind is the role that the motel's surveillance footage played. Without it, identifying Douglas Emanuel Montgomery might have taken much longer or possibly not happened at all. It’s really troubling to think about how many cases go unsolved because there isn't solid evidence like this to lead investigators in the right direction. It makes me wonder about the security measures in place at establishments like motels. While it’s clear the footage was crucial here, what about all other areas like parking lots or lesser-traveled hallways? Are businesses doing enough to ensure a safe environment for their guests? Sending strength to Jakim’s family and friends as they navigate this difficult time. They deserve justice for their loved one and the peace of mind that comes with knowing more could be done to prevent such tragedies.
