Hey everyone,
I’ve been following a lot of these cold cases from Detroit, and Martez Ashford’s murder has been on my mind lately. ? It’s frustrating to think about how high the crime rates were in 2015 and how many families were left searching for answers. Knowing that Martez was found on the west side, it hit close to home for many in our community who are really trying to make things safer and end this cycle of violence.
One thing I find encouraging, though, is the work being done by the Cold Case Unit. With the advances in DNA technology, there seems to be a real possibility of breakthroughs, even years later. I think it’s important for us as a community to support these efforts. If anyone has any information, don’t hesitate to reach out to Crime Stoppers or the police. Every little bit helps, and who knows, maybe it will lead to getting justice for Martez and his family.
What are your thoughts on how technology could help solve more of these cases? It feels like a hopeful step, and I just pray it brings some peace to the families waiting for answers.
Stay safe out there. ?
Hey everyone, I’ve been following Martez Ashford’s case ever since I first heard about it, and it's just haunting to see how it still remains unsolved after all these years. It's a painful reminder of how many families like his continue to wait for answers. I recently read about the Cold Case Unit in Detroit utilizing new forensic technologies to investigate cases like his. I really hope that DNA analysis can bring some new leads to light.
I think it's great that the police are collaborating with Crime Stoppers—it gives some hope that someone who knows something might finally come forward, even anonymously. The strength of a community really shines in moments like these when everyone comes together to support the families needing closure.
If anyone has been following updates from the Cold Case Unit or heard anything recently, please share. Every bit of information could help. My heart goes out to Martez's family and friends. They deserve some peace. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue to support these efforts in whatever way we can.
I recently came across the case of Martez Ashford, and it's really been weighing on my mind. It's deeply concerning to think about how many families are left waiting for answers, with their loved ones’ names becoming mere statistics in Detroit’s backlog of unsolved cases. What’s particularly frustrating is the lack of witnesses—how does someone just disappear like that, in a city full of people?
It's encouraging to see that the Detroit Police Department’s Cold Case Unit is making use of new technologies, like DNA analysis, to open some doors that might have been shut back in 2015. But it makes me wonder how we, as a community, can do more to support these efforts. Has anyone here submitted tips through Crime Stoppers or similar platforms, and did you see any impact or even feel like it made a difference?
If anything, stories like Martez Ashford’s should remind us all just how important it is to come together and support each other—not just the victims’ families, but also our community as a whole. Every tip, no matter how small, could be the piece that finally brings justice and peace to those who’ve been waiting too long.
