I’ve been reading up on the events surrounding the Howard Johnson's incident, and I find myself truly moved by the courage displayed by Superintendent Louis Sirgo. While the entire episode was filled with tragic loss, Sirgo's determination to save his fellow officers shows a tremendous act of selflessness. It’s hard to imagine the sheer chaos and fear in those moments, yet he went forward to help those trapped. It breaks my heart to think about what his family must have gone through during this time. Reflecting on this, I can't help but think about the immense pressure officers face in life-threatening situations. Sirgo’s actions that day were nothing short of heroic, and his sacrifice is not something that should be forgotten. For anyone who lived through those events or had loved ones affected, I hope his legacy brings some comfort. Has anyone visited the commemorative events in his honor? How do they capture and convey his bravery to the community today?
