I’ve been thinking a lot about the courage of the first responders who arrived at the scene on May 21, 2006. Their quick actions in such a chaotic and devastating situation were nothing short of heroic. It's unimaginable what they had to witness, and I truly admire their strength and professionalism amidst such tragedy. It’s also a reminder of the heavy burden faced by those who work in emergency services and how crucial support systems are for them, both on and off the job. My thoughts are with the entire Baton Rouge community, and especially with the families of Doloris Lowe McGrew and the other victims, whose lives were forever changed by this senseless act of violence.
