I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of the community in cases like LittleJohn "June" Haynes’. It’s devastating to hear about the impact gang violence has, not just on individuals but on entire neighborhoods. When you look into the contributions community leaders can make toward prevention, it's clear there needs to be a collective effort beyond law enforcement to create safer environments. Knowing that June was a father, I can’t help but think of what his children, Tirrany and Johnell, must be going through. Losing a parent is never easy, especially under such violent circumstances. My heart goes out to them, as well as his mother and siblings. I wonder how the community can better support families grappling with such loss. What initiatives exist, or could be developed, to help families heal and reduce the risk of these tragedies recurring?
