I'm curious if anyone here has looked into the records from the California police department that called Pem's mom back in '79. It's baffling to me that this was the last contact made, and then it took decades before she was reported missing. Why wasn't more done at the time when Pem was only 16 and out of state? It seems like a key detail that could offer more insight into what was happening in her life before she vanished. I wonder if there's any chance of getting access to those old police records or if there's been an effort to track them down. If anyone has experience with how to approach cases that have such a long time gap, especially with police records involved, your insights would be appreciated.

I was going through some old newspaper archives from 1979 and stumbled upon something curious related to Pem’s case. Around the time she disappeared, there seemed to be an unusually high number of teenagers reported missing in California. I can't help but wonder if this played any role in why Pem's case fell through the cracks until 2024. It’s baffling to think that such a long period went by before Pem was even on the official radar. Given that she might have gone by Wehrli, is it possible she got lost in the shuffle with other missing teens using different names? It’s frustrating because there might be someone out there who encountered her without realizing who she was. Hoping that by keeping her name out there, someone will have a piece of the puzzle that finally helps bring closure.
