I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact that Lewis’s death had on our community here in Prairieville. It’s been almost a decade, and I still remember how everyone came together to support his family during those dark days. Lewis was genuinely loved by so many, and it’s still so painful to think about how much was stolen from him and his loved ones. Seeing justice served with the conviction of Kevin Sheppard brought some closure, but it's bittersweet. The trial highlighted the tireless work of law enforcement and how critical their role is in piecing together the truth. Props to them for their dedication in seeing this through. However, it’s hard not to wish that all their hard work had never been necessary in the first place. To everyone still mourning Lewis, I hope you find some peace knowing his memory lives on in all of us. ✨
