It's been over seven years since Tollette "Tonka" George Jr. was senselessly killed, and it's disheartening to see how little progress has been made in finding his killer. As someone from the Algiers neighborhood, I've seen firsthand the kind of positive impact he had on our community. His accomplishments in sports and academics were inspiring, showing young people around here that with hard work, they could achieve great things. What’s truly frustrating is the silence and the lack of any breakthrough. It baffles me that no one has been arrested or even named as a suspect despite this happening in a neighborhood where people are usually close-knit. Every time I pass by Lauradale Drive, I think of his family and how they must feel every day, wondering, waiting for some new piece of information that might finally bring them peace. I hope anyone who knows anything comes forward. Tollette deserves justice, and his family deserves answers. Let’s keep his memory alive and continue to push for the truth. If you know something, even if it seems small, it might be what leads to a resolution in this tragic case.

The frustration surrounding Tollette "Tonka" George Jr.'s unsolved case is deeply felt, especially when considering how much potential he had. His accomplishments speak volumes about his character—both academically and athletically. It's baffling how someone with such great promise could have his life cut so short, and yet, here we are, years later, without any solid answers. I find myself particularly moved by his story because he was more than just a victim; he was a vibrant part of Algiers and a role model at Edna Karr Senior High. It's troubling to think about the impact on students who looked up to him and the younger athletes who saw him as a beacon of success. His story was one of promise and hope, and now it’s also a call for justice that remains unheeded. We can only hope that renewed attention on his case might inspire someone with information to come forward, no matter how trivial they think it might be. His family and community deserve to know what happened so they can begin to heal. Let's keep sharing his story and urging for developments in this investigation.
