I’ve been thinking a lot about Darrell Earl Hollins Sr. and the community where he spent his life. New Orleans East has such a rich history, but it's also been a place that’s seen too many lives cut short. Darrell wasn’t just a statistic; he was someone’s family and a friend to many. It's hard to imagine what his loved ones have gone through, losing such a caring individual.
I’ve read a lot about how much he was loved and what a big heart he had. One question on my mind is: How is the community coping now, years later? Are there any local efforts to address the violence that claimed Darrell’s life? It's crucial that we remember him by not only honoring his memory but also by working towards preventing more senseless deaths.
Anyone else from NOLA or familiar with the case have thoughts on how the city is healing or ways to help continue the fight for safer neighborhoods? Sending my thoughts to everyone who loved Darrell and is still feeling his absence.
