I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of New Orleans in BTY YoungN’s life and career. It's clear that the city was more than just a background; it was a big part of his identity and his music. Born and raised there, he could have left countless times, especially after surviving a shooting at 16. But he stayed. I can’t help but admire his decision to remain in a place that’s both inspiring and challenging. It’s so tragic that the place he loved could also be the site of his downfall.
I wonder if there are lessons to be learned about the risks young artists face in their own communities. Could more have been done to protect him, or was he just a victim of circumstances beyond his control? It's gut-wrenching to think about the potential he had and how it might have changed the very fabric of NOLA music if things had turned out differently.
Thinking of his family, especially his mom. Gabrielle must have been his fiercest supporter, and now she’s left to deal with such unbearable sorrow. I hope they find some peace and justice in all this. His story continues to resonate and remind us that these aren’t just stories or headlines—these are real lives with real losses. ?
Has anyone else been following the case of BTY YoungN? I've been thinking a lot about his family and the difficult journey they've endured. It must be incredibly hard for them, knowing how Desmone had already survived a shooting as a teenager. He battled so much adversity and still managed to channel his experiences into his art. That resilience is something to admire, even as we mourn his loss. I wonder if his previous experiences played a role in this tragic incident and if they might have influenced how he navigated his life and career. It's so sad to think that someone so talented who had already overcome so much could still face such violence. Sending love to his family and anyone who knew him personally. ?
I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact these tragedies have on the families left behind, especially in cases like BTY YoungN's. As much as we focus on the victim, which is absolutely important, we sometimes overlook the emotional toll on their loved ones. Gabrielle Jerome and Robert Smith lost their son in such a sudden and violent manner—it must be unimaginably difficult for them to cope with not only his death but also the constant media attention and public speculation.
It's truly sad to think that BTY YoungN's parents saw him survive a shooting at 16, only to lose him for good in another act of violence. I'm hoping that the community can rally around them, offer support, and perhaps help them find some sort of closure or peace, even if justice in the legal sense isn't fully served. It’s just a reminder of how precious life is and how the people behind the headlines are real and grieving. If there’s a silver lining, maybe it’s a stronger community resilience and a renewed call to change the environment that so many young artists find themselves in. My heart goes out to everyone affected by BTY YoungN’s loss.
