I wanted to share some thoughts on a part of the case that I think we don't talk about as much—the impact on the community, especially during such a culturally important time like Mardi Gras. It’s so distressing to reflect on how violence disrupted a day meant for celebration and unity. Mardi Gras is supposed to be a time when New Orleans comes together, and instead, it was marred by this senseless tragedy. The strength and resilience shown by Jamar's and Byron's families through all the hearings and retrials are nothing short of incredible. It's so important that we continue to show love and support to the community in the aftermath of such events. We've seen grassroots initiatives aiming to break the cycle of violence, which gives me hope. But there's still a long way to go, and I can’t help but think about the emotional toll this must take on all the people still fighting for change. Sending thoughts and prayers to everyone who was touched by this tragic event, and hoping that the memory of Jamar and Byron inspires a future of peace and community healing.
