It's incredibly sad to think about the impact that this single moment of violence has had on so many lives—Savahn's family must be going through unimaginable pain right now. I can't help but think about how senseless this confrontation was and wonder if anyone noticed any warning signs beforehand? It's frustrating when you think about how things might have been different if someone could have intervened or de-escalated the situation. I understand Leonard Celestine III eventually took a plea deal for reduced charges, but it still doesn’t bring Savahn back. The sentences issued may never feel like justice to those who knew Savahn, but I hope it at least brings some closure to his family. We definitely need more resources for conflict resolution and mental health to prevent these tragedies. It's devastating to see a community left to pick up the pieces after such a loss.
