I was reading about the tragedy involving Naiasalyn Brown and Tyrell Bolden, and it left me thinking about how many young lives are affected by domestic violence. Naiasalyn was just at the start of her adult life, and already going through the immense change of expecting a child. It's truly devastating for her family and friends to not only lose her but also the future she carried. One thing that stands out is the role that community support plays in times like these. The vigil organized by her family and the Chez Hope Family Crisis Center seems like such a powerful way to honor Naiasalyn's memory and bring attention to the issue of domestic violence. It’s crucial that we come together to shed light on these issues and support one another. I hope this tragedy sparks more conversations and actions around domestic violence prevention in St. Mary Parish and beyond. Lives can be saved if we stand up and refuse to let this kind of violence continue unchecked. My heart goes out to Naiasalyn’s family—losing her and her unborn child is unimaginable.
