I’ve been following Malik Filer's case and can't stop thinking about the ripple effect his loss has had on his community and family. It’s hard to believe it'll be five years since Malik was taken away while doing something as simple as taking out the trash—one of those everyday activities that now holds a painful memory for his aunt and family. While Daylon "Ko Ko" Alexander and Bernard Mitchell IV's arrests are steps in the right direction, I can’t help but wonder how the community is coping and moving forward. Are there any efforts or memorials in place to keep Malik’s memory alive? It feels so crucial that, beyond just seeking justice, we also find ways to celebrate his life and the person he was. Hoping for continued strength and healing for everyone who knew and loved Malik.
