Have any of you been following the recent developments in the George Wroten III case? I was particularly struck by the role the surveillance footage played in identifying the suspects. It’s a grim reminder of how vital these cameras have become in solving such horrific crimes. I can’t imagine the pain George’s family must be feeling, knowing that there's footage of his tragic final moments, but it's also likely a significant piece in holding those responsible accountable. ?️
The fact that the footage is helping to paint a clearer picture for the NOPD is a testament to how tech can aid justice, but it's also so deeply distressing to realize that people in the French Quarter have to live under the shadow of such violence. My thoughts are with George’s family and anyone else affected that night. May justice prevail, and may we move towards a safer community for everyone. ?
Does anyone know if there were any community vigils or memorials held for George Wroten III after the incident? ? I've read so much about his professional life and how well-respected he was at Baptist Hospital and Avondale Shipyard, but I feel like there must have been some heartfelt gatherings by locals who wanted to honor him. Given the tragic circumstances of his death, I imagine his friends and family could really use the support. Anything to show how much he meant to those around him. I know communities in New Orleans tend to rally around each other during tough times, and organizing events like this could be a powerful way to come together against violence. If anyone knows more about these gatherings or wants to share their experience attending one, please let me know. Thinking of George's loved ones during this tough time. ?
