Hey everyone, I’ve been following the tragic case of Donald Carlton and can’t stop thinking about his family. I read about his passion for golf and old westerns—he seemed like such a vibrant person. Has anyone heard if there’s been any update on those legal proceedings against Derrick Holmes and Lashanta Williams? It must be incredibly tough for Carlton’s family to endure this process while grieving their loss. The community’s support seems crucial right now. If anyone has info on how the family’s coping or ways we could maybe help, please share. They deserve all the solidarity we can offer. ?

I know that Holmes received a 30 year sentence. I'm not sure about Lashanta Williams.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court says criminal case research is handled through ClerkConnect (their official online records portal). Searching her name/case there should show the disposition and any sentencing minutes if they’re public.

I am his daughter, Rachel Carlton, and we’ve done the best we can. It impacted our lives profoundly. He was so very loved and so very missed. Thank you for thinking of us.

Has anyone else been following the community support in Baton Rouge after Donald Carlton's tragic passing? I'm truly touched by the way the neighborhood has come together to remember him and support his family. I recently read that his golf buddies organized a small tournament in his honor, with proceeds going to a fund set up for his grandkids' education. It’s amazing to see how people have channeled their grief into something positive, creating lasting memories in his name. I hope this kind of community spirit helps his family find some comfort during such a difficult time. What are your thoughts on how community actions can aid healing in the aftermath of such a tragedy?

Hi, I am his daughter and I wasn’t aware of that. Do you have any information?

I was reading through this case and couldn’t stop thinking about the impact it must have had on Mr. Carlton’s family, especially his grandchildren. It sounds like he was such a vibrant person with so much joy for life, particularly when it comes to golf and his love for Cancun. Losing someone like that must leave a huge void in their lives. It’s comforting to know that the community and law enforcement are working hard to bring justice, but it’s so tragic that this kind of violence disrupts families and communities. I hope his family knows how many people are supporting them from afar and hoping for some solace during this difficult time. How does everyone else feel the community's response has been around this? Have they been supportive?
