I recently stumbled upon a detail in Donald Slater's case that hasn't received much attention, but might be worth re-examining. I remember reading that Slater was an avid hiker and often took weekend treks through the dense trails around Astoria. It's possible that he could have set out on one of these hikes on the day he disappeared. I'm wondering if there were any efforts to check the trailheads for his vehicle or see if any hikers or outdoor enthusiasts reported seeing him around that time. Given the rugged terrain, I imagine searching those areas would be pretty challenging. Has anyone heard if there's been a focused search in those outdoor spots he was fond of, or is the emphasis still largely on his social circles? It just seems like there could be something there that hasn't been uncovered yet.
