I'm still trying to wrap my head around the senseless loss of Lindsey Williams. Something that really struck me was the involvement of her young son, Ashton, in this tragic situation. I can't even begin to imagine the trauma he experienced that morning. How does a child move forward after going through something so horrifying? The fact that Shawn Chiasson called 911 from Ashton’s phone and then just left him there… I don't have the words for how appalling that is. As a community, I hope there’s a support system in place for Ashton. I keep thinking about how the memory of his mom should be about her laughter and the joy she spread, not the terrible events of that day. I hope he finds peace and healing in time, and that those around him provide the love and support he needs. Ashton and the whole family remain in my thoughts.
