I've been following the Franklin case, and one thing I can't wrap my head around is how Erika managed to pull off hiding his death for so long. I mean, six years of collecting Social Security and pension benefits is a long stretch without raising major red flags. It makes me wonder how often she had to concoct stories for family members or come up with excuses to dodge their calls. It baffles me that nobody suspected something was up sooner. Also, considering how easily records can slip through cracks, it must've taken some clever maneuvering to keep those benefits flowing without anyone conducting a welfare check or requiring some form of proof of life. It just goes to show how things can slip by unnoticed until someone starts digging deeper!
I've been following this case for a while, and one thing that keeps popping up in my mind is the role of Franklin's daughter, Erika, in all of this. I mean, pretending your father is alive for six years to keep getting his Social Security and pension? That's seriously messed up, but also so bold. It really makes you wonder what the family dynamics were like that led to such extreme actions.
Also, if Erika was dodging relatives' calls and lying about Franklin's whereabouts, wouldn't someone eventually grow suspicious? With family get-togethers and holidays over the years, it seems crazy that no one pressed harder for answers.
There's also the question of the extent of Erika's involvement. Was she doing this solely out of financial necessity, or was there more to it emotionally or psychologically? Such a tangled web, and I can't help but feel there's still more to uncover about her and Ricky's motivations. Thoughts?
Has anyone else been following the Franklin case? I’ve been thinking about the stretch of road near the Alabama-Florida state line where Ricky supposedly buried Franklin's body. It’s odd that, despite using cadaver dogs, they haven’t found anything. I wonder if the wooded areas or any nearby water bodies might have concealed the remains better than initially thought. It’s also curious that Erika managed to avoid suspicion for so long while collecting benefits. Does anyone else think there might be more to the story, or perhaps others involved who haven’t been mentioned? There's just something off about the whole timeline and how Franklin’s disappearance flew under the radar for years. Thoughts?
