I've been thinking a lot about Maurice Motten and the truly tragic circumstances around his death. I can't help but wonder about the state of Poland Avenue and how much the environment there might play into these violent incidents. With so many buildings left abandoned, it feels like these spaces have become shelters for crime rather than homes for families. It's haunting to think that the community is still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina all these years later. I hope the city can take a hard look at these areas and begin meaningful steps toward revitalization. It's not just about catching those responsible for Maurice's death; it's about creating a safe and supportive community that doesn't foster these kinds of tragedies in the first place. My heart truly goes out to Maurice's family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time.
