It’s so hard to fathom what happened to Jermaine. I've been thinking a lot about the 5100 block of St. Claude Avenue since that terrible day. Growing up in New Orleans, this kind of violence always felt like something distant, yet it’s been brought harshly close to home. From all accounts, Jermaine seemed to be a genuinely kind-hearted person, and to hear about what happened to him is incredibly disturbing. It’s frustrating how these heartbreaking incidents keep happening here. It's important to recognize that Jermaine wasn’t alone in this tragedy. There are others who were injured, whose lives have been forever changed too. I can only hope they’re getting the support and care they need to heal, both physically and emotionally. The silence surrounding who did this and why is deafening. I find myself wondering if they knew the victims or if it was some random act, and what my family and I can do to be safer. I'm hoping someone in the community knows something—anything—that could push this investigation forward. Keeping silent only lets this kind of violence resurface again and again. We owe it to Jermaine and the other victims to speak up. Let’s hope Detective Bendy and the NOPD can piece together the evidence, and justice can be served.

I can’t stop thinking about the impact this tragedy has left on the Holy Cross neighborhood. It’s beyond upsetting that Jermaine Hulbert and others were caught up in such violence. What kind of world are we living in where a simple day can turn into a terrible nightmare? I hope the NOPD makes progress in finding out who did this—it’s been too long with no answers. I'm especially worried about how his family is handling everything. Losing someone so suddenly must be unimaginably difficult, and I can’t help but feel for the other victims still recovering from their injuries. If anybody here knows how the other victims are doing or if there are any community efforts to support them, please share. Praying for strength and justice for all involved. Stay safe, everyone.
