In light of Cody Davis's tragic death, I've been thinking a lot about the role of community support, especially for kids who have already faced so much adversity. Cody's uncle mentioned that Cody's mom passed away due to illness, and it breaks my heart to think about how much loss he experienced in such a short life. A strong community can make such a difference for young people growing up amidst violence. It's essential that we as a community create spaces where kids feel safe and supported. Mentorship programs and community centers could really help steer them away from these dangerous situations. I hope more people will step up and volunteer their time to support our youth. My thoughts are with Cody's family and friends, and I truly hope the city listens to those pleading for more resources and a safer environment for everyone, especially our children.
