Just came across the case of Marshal Zachary T. Shipley, and I can't help but think about how these types of tragedies impact a small community like Flora. Losing someone in such a violent manner, especially when they're just trying to do their job, must have sent shockwaves through the town. I wonder how his family and fellow officers coped with such a sudden and brutal loss. Given the time period, I imagine support systems weren't as robust as they are today. Does anyone know if Flora or the local police department did anything to honor Marshal Shipley's memory in the aftermath of this horrible event? It seems like remembering fallen officers is such an important part of community healing.
