I've been digging into the case of Detective John A. Wren, and something that really stands out to me is the role of Detective Patrick J. Quinn in the days following the shooting. It must have been incredibly difficult for him to not only deal with his own injury but also see his partner fall in the line of duty. It’s admirable how he continued to work through the investigation, even going as far as identifying one of the suspects. Being in such a traumatic situation, the pressure must have been immense, especially with the public and his department looking for answers. It makes me wonder about the kind of support systems that were available for officers back then. It’s a side of law enforcement that's so crucial but rarely talked about—how officers cope with these life-and-death situations and the aftermath. The courage both detectives showed that day is remarkable, and I can only hope the family and colleagues of Detective Wren found some solace in knowing how bravely he served.
