I'm struck by how senseless and tragic Rosalind Slaughter's death was. Even though it's been decades since that awful night in 1993, it still sticks with me how celebrations spiraled into violence so quickly. Reflecting on how crowd control and public safety measures should have been stronger back then makes me wonder if anything has really changed in all these years. It's just so devastating to think about Rosalind’s family and friends and the pain they must still feel every time the Bulls have a victory. I can't help but hope that somehow, someone might remember something that can bring peace or justice to her loved ones. It's a reality check on the work we still need to do to ensure that a celebration doesn't turn into a tragedy. Would love to hear if anyone has thoughts on how public events can be made safer now, considering what happened back then.
