I was thinking about the decline in safety in certain neighborhoods and it got me reflecting on the tragic case of Devin Common from back in 2013. I've read about the heartache his family experienced, especially his mother, Kimberly, having to endure the death of not one but two sons to the streets. It's just incredibly upsetting. What really caught my attention was how this wasn't just an isolated incident—the whole community was impacted. Many people feel stuck in a cycle of violence, and despite arrests getting made, like with Quovadas Mahomes in Devin’s case, it doesn’t seem to stop. It makes you wonder what more can be done to prevent such senseless tragedies and protect families from living in fear. My thoughts are with the Common family and everyone else going through similar situations. I hope Devin and Antonio’s story brings more awareness and constructive changes for the community.
Hey everyone,
I've been following Devin Common's case and something caught my attention that I wanted to discuss here. It’s about the suspect, Quovadas Mahomes, and that bizarre detail regarding the gunshot residue. I've never heard of someone attempting to urinate on their own hands to remove evidence before. It seems both desperate and telling of someone who might have panicked. What do you all think? Does this sort of behavior indicate anything particular about guilt or state of mind at the time? It just seems like an unusual attempt to cover up involvement, and I'm curious if there are other cases with similar behaviors.
My heart goes out to the Common family. Losing not one but two sons to gun violence is unimaginable. It's horrifying to think that simple errands like getting coffee can end in such tragedy. I hope the community finds some way to heal and that Devin and Antonio's stories push for stronger measures against gun violence in Chicago.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been following Devin Common's case closely, and my heart goes out to his family, especially his mom, Kimberly. Losing two children to such violence is unimaginable. I wanted to bring up something about the aftermath and the community's response.
Despite the tragedy, I've learned about a local group that came together to honor Devin’s memory. They organized a series of peace marches and community gatherings in the months following his murder, aiming to raise awareness about gun violence and support the Common family. It was touching to see people come together like that, trying to make a positive impact in such a dark time.
Does anyone know more about these community efforts or similar initiatives in Chicago? Have they continued to be active over the years in advocating for change? I'd love to learn more about how communities rally around families after such profound losses.
Sending strength to everyone impacted by this case.
