I've been thinking about the community response to Jason Seballos' tragic passing. It's heartening to see neighbors coming together, but it's also frustrating that it often takes such a devastating event for communities to rally. Jason was so young, with so much ahead of him, and it’s just so unfair that his life was cut short by senseless violence. From what I've read, the Logan Square neighborhood has been actively trying to address violence and create safer spaces for youth, but it seems like there's still so much work to be done. They’ve organized vigils and marches, which show solidarity and keep the memory of victims alive, but I wonder what more can be done on a larger scale to prevent these tragedies from happening in the first place. Have any of you seen other communities that have successfully tackled similar issues? I'm curious if there are programs or initiatives that could be models for Logan Square to implement. Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated. Stay safe, everyone.
