I’ve been following the Gliniewicz case, and something that really hit me was how the entire community of Fox Lake was turned upside down by the events. It must have been incredibly terrifying during that initial manhunt, thinking there were dangerous suspects on the loose, only to later find out there were none. Imagine being a parent with kids in school on lockdown, or someone just trying to get home from work, only to discover that you can't because everything is barricaded. The fear and confusion those residents experienced are unimaginable. And then the shockwave of finding out a trusted officer orchestrated this whole scenario? It’s staggering. I can’t even begin to process how betrayed his family, friends, and fellow officers must feel. They believed in him, supported him, and in one moment, their whole understanding of who he was came crashing down. I hope they can find peace and support from one another during such a difficult time. It’s a stark reminder that sometimes, the people we look up to may be struggling more than we realize.

Has anyone else been thinking about the enormous impact on the young people involved in the Explorer program that Gliniewicz was running? It's just awful to think that these kids considered him a role model, someone they looked up to and trusted to guide them on their path to a career in law enforcement. Not only do they have to process his death, but also the fact that he was living a double life. It must be incredibly confusing and disheartening for them. I'm really hoping that the community or the police department has stepped in to offer them some kind of counseling or support. They were innocent bystanders in all of this, and they deserve some guidance and reassurance that not all their role models are going to let them down. Anyone hear anything about continued support for these kids?
