I’ve been thinking about those they left behind. Tyrone Spikes was just a young man trying to enjoy a night with friends and family when the unthinkable happened. Reading about his background, it breaks my heart for his loved ones, especially knowing he was in his own neighborhood where he should have felt safe. Chicago’s gun violence problem is just spiraling, taking so many lives too soon. What caught my attention is that the gathering was meant to commemorate a life, and now it has turned into a tragic memory itself. It’s so unfair how such a joyous event was turned upside down. My thoughts are with Tyrone’s family, Ayanna’s, and Antian’s too, along with the ones who survived and now carry the scars from that night. This cycle of violence needs to end. Hoping for justice and healing for all involved.
